Case No. 2420: Six-month-old Ahmad Arfan Aqeef Bin Muhammad Syahrul Nadzmi may be young, but he has already endured numerous health challenges and hardships.
In the hospital, the little baby still relies on respiratory support through a nasal breathing tube to help him breathe. Yet, whenever his mother comes to his side, he opens his bright, curious eyes as though trying to communicate his needs to her, even making soft “ah-ah” sounds. Witnessing such a moment is truly heartbreaking.
At such a tender age, this little life already knows how to respond to his mother's love, yet he still depends on medical equipment to help maintain his body's essential functions.
[Born prematurely and still requiring respiratory support.]
Ahmad Arfan Aqeef was born prematurely at 32 weeks and 6 days, weighing only 1.73 kg at birth. As his body was not yet fully developed, he experienced recurrent pneumonia, breathing difficulties and gastroesophageal reflux after birth.
He currently remains dependent on Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) to assist his breathing and requires a nasogastric tube for nutritional intake.
In addition, the baby has a minor structural heart condition (Small PFO) and bilateral inguinal hernias, both of which require continuous medical monitoring and follow-up.
Although he has gradually grown, his condition remains fragile. Being discharged from the hospital does not mean that his medical care will come to an end.
[Returning home after discharge still requires medical equipment.]
Ahmad Arfan Aqeef is the youngest child in the family and has two older brothers. His eldest brother has autism and is currently under the care of their maternal grandmother.
His mother, Nur Aznira Binti Abdullah (31 years old), is a homemaker who stays at home to care for the children. Meanwhile, his father, Muhammad Syahrul Nadzmi Bin Nadziruddin (30 years old), resigned from his previous job and switched to working as a Grab driver to have more flexible working hours, allowing him to send and fetch another child from school while supporting the family financially.
According to the doctor's arrangements, the baby will still require respiratory support, nutritional assistance and continuous health monitoring at home after discharge.
In response to the mother's appeal for help, we are assisting the family in raising RM3,500 to purchase the following medical equipment:
- Kangaroo Enteral Feeding Pump and Feeding Bag – RM2,500: To assist with the baby's nutritional intake.
- Healthtree Handheld Pulse Oximeter – RM1,000: To monitor the baby's blood oxygen saturation level and pulse rate.
(Note: The family has already applied for assistance from the Zakat Islamic Religious Fund to obtain the CPAP Machine required by the baby after discharge.)
We sincerely appeal to kind-hearted members of the public to extend their generosity and help Ahmad Arfan Aqeef obtain the medical equipment he urgently needs. Your support will allow his parents to care for him with greater peace of mind and give this little life the opportunity to continue growing with love and care.
We also hope you can help share this appeal with others. Every act of kindness, no matter how small, will make a difference in safeguarding this little baby's journey towards recovery and growth. Thank you.
