Case No. 2407: Doctors have advised that she may be discharged first and return for further examinations when she is older and has gained more weight. We sincerely appeal to kind-hearted people across the country to donate RM13,082 to help purchase essential medical equipment and specialised formula so that she can return home safely.
Since birth, Yennie has spent almost all her time in the hospital. She experienced breathing difficulties at birth and required treatment in an incubator for 35 days. After finally being allowed to return home, she was readmitted just eight days later when milk entered her lungs, causing a bacterial lung infection.
[She is too small and underweight for further diagnosis.]
As Yennie's body is still too small, doctors are unable to determine the underlying cause of her breathing difficulties based on her current condition. They have recommended that she return home to recuperate and gain weight before coming back to the hospital for more comprehensive examinations.
Yennie has been diagnosed with several medical conditions, including Bilateral Choanal Stenosis, Sucking and Swallowing Discoordination, Dystonia, Single Restrictive Muscular Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), and Gastro-oesophageal Reflux. Doctors also suspect that she may have DiGeorge Syndrome, although further tests are needed to confirm the diagnosis.
Even more distressing, Yennie has a deep, elongated groove along the roof of her mouth, making it extremely difficult for her to suck milk. As a result, she has barely gained any weight over the past two months.
[Her face turns purple without the ventilator.]
When Yennie's mother, Yang Min Yue (30 years old), spoke to the social worker about her daughter's condition, she tried to maintain a smile, but her eyes revealed the worry she was carrying. Whenever Yennie is not wearing her ventilator mask, her face quickly turns purple, leaving her mother deeply concerned.
Her father, Chan Wei Chuan (41 years old), is equally worried. He explained that Yennie continues to experience breathing difficulties even while wearing the ventilator mask. Without the ventilator, her life could be in danger.
In addition, Yennie frequently spits up milk and requires a suction machine to help prevent choking and airway obstruction. As she is also unable to suck milk normally, she needs a feeding pump and specialised formula to ensure that she can be discharged and cared for safely at home.
Yennie is the only child in the family. Her father is self-employed but has stopped working to devote himself entirely to caring for her, while her mother works as an administrative staff . Their greatest wish is to obtain all the necessary medical equipment and bring their daughter home safely.
After assessing the family's needs, we are raising funds for the essential items that Yennie needs to return home:
• RESMED AIRSTART 10 APAP ventilator — RM7,000
• MEDCAPTAIN FEEDING PUMP EP-60 — RM2,500
• Suction machine — RM750
• Frisolac AR specialised formula (400g) — RM59 × 48 tins = RM2,832
Total crowdfunding amount: RM13,082
We sincerely hope that the public will extend a helping hand. We also kindly ask everyone to share this appeal so that more people can come together to help Yennie return to the loving arms of her parents as soon as possible.
