At the prime of his life, Lim Seng Kian is facing an unexpected serious illness. Despite the devastating diagnosis, he has remained resilient and hopeful. Instead, he has quietly accepted the harsh reality he now faces.
[He thought it was hemorrhoids, but his condition did not improve.]
Initially, Lim Seng Kian visited a clinic after experiencing discomfort, believing that he was suffering from ordinary hemorrhoids. However, after taking medication, he noticed that his abdomen gradually became swollen and a noticeable hard lump had developed. He subsequently underwent scans, blood tests and hospital examinations. In May this year, the results came out — he was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer.
The abdominal swelling was caused by cancer, which had affected his liver and caused it to become enlarged. To ease the burden on his body, doctors subsequently performed ostomy surgery, creating a stoma and using an ostomy bag to divert part of his large intestine outside the body.
Within a short period of time, he lost a significant amount of weight and became noticeably weaker. He is currently undergoing approximately six months of chemotherapy, with one session every two weeks. His next course of treatment will be determined based on his condition.

His 21-year-old son, Lim Wei Zhang, is currently studying at university. After learning that his father had been diagnosed with cancer, he decided to apply for a one-year suspension of his studies so that he could stay by his father's side and care for him.
In the past, it was his father who worked hard to support the family. Now that his father has fallen ill, the responsibility of managing the household has gradually fallen on his son's shoulders. Although Lim Seng Kian is still able to manage his daily personal needs, his son has gradually taken on the responsibility of preparing their daily meals.
Before his diagnosis, Lim Seng Kian earned a living as an electrician, but his income was unstable. His condition now prevents him from continuing to work, and the family has very little savings. Father and son can only rely on their remaining savings to cover their daily expenses. He is also currently applying for assistance from SOCSO, in the hope of easing some of the financial pressure associated with his living and medical expenses.
