Eleven-year-old Kisorkumaran was born extremely premature and is now in urgent need of a suitable right-leg orthosis and a wheelchair to reduce the difficulties he faces with mobility and daily activities. We sincerely appeal to the public to extend a helping hand and donate RM6,950 to help this brave child live his life with greater ease and independence.
SKU: Case-2380

Case No. 2380: Despite his difficulties with walking, this young Indian boy remains cheerful and optimistic. His smile has never been taken away by his condition, and he knows that he must bravely face the challenges before him.

[The lasting effects of premature birth.]

Kisorkumaran was born when his mother, Noor Nisha Vijayaletchumi Binti Subramaniam (52 years old), was only six months pregnant. Due to his extreme prematurity, he spent 72 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) fighting for his life before he miraculously survived.

However, at the age of two, he was diagnosed with spastic triplegic cerebral palsy, accompanied by significant bilateral lower-limb spasticity and joint contractures. These conditions severely affect his muscle control and coordination, making even basic activities such as reading and writing difficult for him.

To relieve the excessive stiffness in his right arm and both legs, Kisorkumaran has been receiving chemodenervation therapy since 2023.

[An orthosis to help him stand more steadily.]

As Kisorkumaran grows older, his increasing height and weight have made his daily care more challenging for his family.

Noor Nisha Vijayaletchumi is a single mother who suffers from asthma and uterine fibroids. As she needs to care for her son around the clock, she is unable to work outside the home. Today, the family of three relies solely on the modest income earned by Kisorkumaran's 27-year-old sister to make ends meet. Faced with her son's urgent need for assistive devices, his mother feels helpless. It is not that she does not want to purchase them, but that she simply cannot afford the cost.

Kisorkumaran currently has a suitable orthosis for his left leg, but the existing orthosis for his right leg no longer fits properly and cannot provide adequate support. He therefore needs a newly customized right Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis (KAFO) with Becker Drop Lock Knee Joint. This orthosis will help him maintain better posture and stability during his daily activities. In addition, as he continues to grow, a standard wheelchair has become an essential mobility aid for his daily transportation and activities.

After the helpless single mother sought assistance from us, we assessed Kisorkumaran's circumstances and needs. We have decided to launch a crowdfunding appeal for RM6,950, which will be used for:

  1. Customized right-leg Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis (KAFO): RM6,500
  2. Standard wheelchair: RM450

We sincerely appeal to kind-hearted members of the public to lend a helping hand and contribute generously. Every donation will become a source of strength for Kisorkumaran, helping him stand more steadily, move with greater confidence, and face the journey ahead. We also kindly ask everyone to share this appeal so that Kisorkumaran can receive the assistance he urgently needs as soon as possible. Thank you.
