FUNDRAISING CASE 2337 CHAN KAM WENG

After three years of battling cancer, the family’s savings have been completely depleted. We sincerely appeal for donations of RM6,000 to help CHAN KAM WENG purchase a 10-litre high-flow oxygen concentrator so that he can be discharged and continue his recovery at home.
SKU: Case-2337

Case No. 2337: CHAN KAM WENG (50) is an engineer who worked hard for many years to support his family. He was the strongest pillar of support for his family of five, and they lived a happy and fulfilling life together. However, a sudden illness changed everything. Within just a few years, he was plunged into a long and painful battle against cancer, enduring tremendous suffering while his family lost its source of income.

In 2023, CHAN KAM WENG sought medical treatment after experiencing persistent fever and unusual swelling in his calf. What was initially thought to be a common illness was later diagnosed as Stage 4 bone cancer — Metastatic Osteosarcoma. The cancer cells subsequently spread to his spine and lungs.

[Severe Loss of Respiratory Function]

The day after receiving his diagnosis, CHAN KAM WENG underwent emergency tumour removal surgery. A prominent surgical scar remains on his calf to this day.

However, not long after the first surgery, the cancer returned. More heartbreakingly, the cancer cells had already spread to his spinal bones, forcing him to undergo another surgery. Due to the rapid spread of the cancer and the increasing extent of the affected area, doctors no longer recommend major surgical procedures and can only provide conservative treatment.

Today, the cancer has spread further to his lungs, causing him to lose approximately 90% of his respiratory function.

[Going Home Is His Greatest Wish]

During a social worker’s visit, CHAN KAM WENG was seen lying weakly in his hospital bed. The side effects of long-term treatment have caused large white patches to appear on his hands, while the illness has gradually reduced his once-strong physique to a frail and thin condition.

His wife, LIM WAI KUAN (50), shared that her husband’s greatest wish now is simply to return home for care and recovery. However, the doctor has made it clear that he must have a 10-litre high-flow oxygen concentrator before he can be discharged from the hospital.

[A Sincere Appeal for Public Support]

CHAN KAM WENG and his wife have three children: a 22-year-old son, a 20-year-old daughter, and a 13-year-old son, all of whom are still pursuing their studies.

Over the past three years, the family’s savings have steadily diminished due to the cost of cancer treatment. His wife previously worked as a part-time accountant, but she had to stop working in order to care for her husband and remain by his side full-time.

The family’s income has come to a halt, while medical and living expenses continue to increase. Faced with the cost of purchasing the oxygen concentrator, they are simply unable to afford it and have therefore turned to us for assistance.

After reviewing the case and understanding the family’s circumstances, we have decided to launch a crowdfunding campaign for CHAN KAM WENG. We aim to raise RM6,000 to purchase the 10-litre oxygen concentrator recommended by his doctor.

We sincerely appeal to members of the public to extend a helping hand. Your kindness can provide CHAN KAM WENG with the support he needs during this difficult time. We also hope that everyone will help share this appeal. Thank you.
