Case No. 2335: 60-year-old LOW KOK LOONG passed away after being admitted to hospital with severe pneumonia. The hospital and police made numerous attempts to locate his family members, but unfortunately, no relatives could be found. Eventually, we stepped in, hoping to help this lonely elderly man complete his final arrangements and give him a dignified farewell.
On 23 May 2026, LOW KOK LOONG’s condition suddenly deteriorated due to severe pneumonia. His only friend, Nor Azimah, immediately rushed him to the hospital. Sadly, he passed away the following day.
Prior to this, LOW KOK LOONG had often complained to Nor Azimah about headaches, difficulty breathing and other discomforts. About a month earlier, his health had deteriorated significantly, and he even developed swelling throughout his body. At the urging of his friend, he underwent medical examinations and was diagnosed with severe pneumonia. He subsequently received 23 days of treatment in hospital.
After he was discharged, Nor Azimah remained concerned about his health. She even arranged to rent a room from a friend so that LOW KOK LOONG would have a place to rest and recover, while also making it easier for her to care for him.
However, just nine days after his discharge, LOW KOK LOONG’s condition deteriorated again. Nor Azimah immediately rushed him back to the hospital, but sadly, it was too late to save him.
According to the death report, LOW KOK LOONG passed away at 9:55 a.m. on 24 May 2026 due to severe pneumonia.
Nor Azimah had been his only friend for the past 26 years. Although she had mentally prepared herself for his passing, she still found it difficult to accept his death.
With no family members coming forward to claim his body, the 60-year-old man was left alone in the hospital mortuary for several months. Eventually, the hospital contacted us and requested our assistance in handling his funeral arrangements, so that he could complete his final journey with dignity.

We will hold a Christian memorial service on 19 August 2026 (Wednesday) at Nanyang Thong Siang T'ng. The cremation will take place on 20 August 2026 (Thursday). His ashes will be placed in the Nirvana Memorial Park, HC13-N13A-DB-02-08, which was kindly donated by a member of the public.
