FUNDRAISING CASE 2308 LOONG YU QIAN
We sincerely appeal to kind-hearted individuals nationwide to contribute RM4,380 to purchase six months’ supply of special milk formula and diapers for a two and a half years old girl, helping to provide her with the nutrition and daily necessities she needs. She was born as an extremely premature baby.
Case No. 2308: LOONG YU QIAN looks just as adorable and lively as any other little girl. However, she weighed only 800 grams at birth and was born at just 26 weeks of gestation. It has taken tremendous effort for her to come this far.
She once came close to losing her life. Due to her critical condition at birth, she was immediately placed in an incubator for treatment. After three months of intensive care and observation, she was finally allowed to return home.
[Incomplete Heart and Lung Development – Every Step of Growth Is More Challenging]
Because of her premature birth, LOONG YU QIAN’s heart and lungs did not develop fully. When she was a few months old, she was hospitalized for one week due to pneumonia. Although she has since recovered, doctors informed the family that her lung function remains weaker than that of other children. Even slight physical activity or emotional excitement can cause her to become short of breath.
Her father, LOONG JIUN WAH (36), shared that after his daughter was discharged from the hospital, she had to return for medical check-ups almost every week. Although her condition has gradually stabilized, she still requires regular follow-up appointments and ongoing medical monitoring.
In addition to her heart and lung issues, her premature birth has also affected other aspects of her development.
Her mother, THANG JING LIN (32), recalled that her daughter only learned to walk within the past six months. Before that, she could only move around slowly by using her hands and bottom, learning and progressing one step at a time.
[She Has Finally Started Eating, but Still Requires Nutritional Supplementation]
Before the age of two, LOONG YU QIAN was willing to drink only milk and refused to eat other foods. It was only within the past six months that she gradually began accepting other foods. However, due to prolonged inadequate nutritional intake, she has become malnourished.
LOONG YU QIAN is the youngest child in the family and has a five years old elder brother.
Because of her daughter’s special condition, close attention must be paid to any changes in her health, and she frequently needs to attend medical appointments. As a result, it has been difficult to find a babysitter willing to take on the responsibility of caring for her. Her father, LOONG JIUN WAH, was therefore forced to resign from his job to become her full-time caregiver.
