Case No. 2298: The passing of Mr. Yap Ah Koon has left his son with endless sorrow and longing. At around 7:00 a.m. on 13 June, his eldest son, Yap Kek Vooi, followed his usual routine of checking on his father before leaving for work. For many years, this had been a daily habit, as he wanted to ensure his father was safe and well before heading out.

However, on that day, no matter how much he called to his father or gently nudged him, there was no response. When Yap Kek Vooi reached out and touched his father, he discovered that his body had already turned cold. He immediately contacted the authorities for assistance. Upon arrival, medical personnel confirmed that Mr. Yap had passed away.

The news devastated his son, who found it difficult to accept that his father had left so suddenly.

Yap Kek Vooi had done everything within his means to care for his father. In recent years, Mr. Yap has suffered greatly from various health issues. It began with pain in his legs, for which he sought medical treatment. Later, he started taking strong painkillers on his own, which caused severe damage to his stomach and resulted in two major surgeries. Subsequently, wounds on his legs deteriorated badly and became infected with bacteria.

In an effort to provide better care, Yap Kek Vooi once arranged for his father to stay in a nursing home where caregivers could tend to his wounds and daily needs. However, the elderly man constantly missed his home and repeatedly requested to return. Unable to bear denying his father's wishes, Yap Kek Vooi eventually brought him back home to care for him personally. Sadly, despite all efforts, Mr. Yap was unable to overcome his illnesses and eventually passed away.

According to the death report, Mr. Yap Ah Koon passed away at 9:50 a.m. on 13 June 2026 due to old age.

Mr. Yap is survived by two sons. His eldest son, Yap Kek Vooi, works as an automotive spray painter, while his younger son is currently unemployed. Both brothers have families of their own to support and are facing financial constraints.
