Case No. 2282: Mr. Edwin Tan Kit Kong, aged 49, passed away in the early hours of May 15, 2026, at a non-profit nursing home. Medical personnel and the police arrived at the scene and later confirmed his death.

His younger brother, Mr. Jonathan Tan Kit Meng, recalled that when he received the phone call, he was completely stunned. Although his brother had been critically ill, the moment they were confronted with the news of his death was still too overwhelming for the family to accept.

Mr. Edwin Tan had been suffering from severe diabetes for many years. Earlier this year, he was hospitalized for nearly three months. Doctors informed the family that his kidneys were already 90% damaged, and his condition was extremely critical, with an estimated life expectancy of only about six months. After he was discharged from the hospital, his elderly parents were no longer physically capable of providing him with long-term care. With great reluctance, the family arranged for him to stay at a non-profit nursing home, hoping that he would receive proper care and support from the social workers there.

Unexpectedly, only about three weeks later, Mr. Edwin Tan passed away at the nursing home. According to the death report, he passed away at 1:44 a.m. on May 15, 2026, due to complications arising from diabetes and kidney failure (Komplikasi kencing manis/buah pinggang).

Mr. Edwin Tan was the eldest son in the family. Before his illness, he relied on part-time and temporary jobs to support himself and had no savings. His younger brother, Jonathan, is currently seeking employment and has children to support, while their elderly parents no longer have the financial means to bear any additional expenses.

The sudden passing of his brother has left the family unable to cope with the unexpected funeral costs. Giving his brother a dignified farewell is Jonathan Tan's only wish. In their grief and helplessness, Jonathan has entrusted us for assistance, so that his brother may rest in peace soon.

We humbly appeal to the generous public to contribute according to their means and merit, so that Mr. Edwin Tan Kit Kong may rest in peace.

If any kind-hearted individuals wish to sponsor the full funeral expenses, please contact us for further information. Thank you.

A Buddhist prayer ceremony for the late Mr. Edwin Tan Kit Kong will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the Kwong Tong Cemetery Funeral Parlour, Kuala Lumpur, in Hall ( ). Cremation will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, and the family will make subsequent arrangements for the placement of his ashes.
