Case No. 2261:
[A tragic accident that changed his life. ]
Seven years ago, while on a family outing, Yong Shui Tian was struck by a suddenly falling coconut tree. The accident caused severe spinal injuries, leaving him permanently paralyzed from the waist down.
Unfortunately, tragedy struck again. About a year ago, both of his legs began swelling unexpectedly. What initially seemed like a minor issue turned out to be far more serious. After medical examinations, he was diagnosed with Philadelphia chromosome-positive B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (Ph+ B-ALL).
Doctors have made it clear that he must undergo an allogeneic stem cell transplant (commonly known as a bone marrow transplant) as soon as possible in order to survive.
[A life filled with hardship and resilience.]
At the age of 24, Yong Shui Tian was a technician, working hard to build his future. After the accident, he lost not only his ability to walk but also his job. A friend was kind enough to offer him remote work so he could keep making money from home.
However, the side effects of chemotherapy made it difficult for him to concentrate, forcing him to resign and focus entirely on his recovery.
After years of struggle, he gradually learned to accept life in a wheelchair. Yet fate dealt him another cruel blow. Despite multiple rounds of chemotherapy, his white blood cell count remains dangerously high. Doctors have emphasized that without a bone marrow transplant, his condition cannot be controlled.
[A mother’s silent tears.]
His mother, Au Tian Yun (54 years old), stays by his side every day. Watching her son suffer fills her with deep pain and worry, though she struggles to express it. Tears well up in her eyes, but she quickly wipes them away, not wanting him to see her distress.
The family of five is already under financial strain. His father is retired, his elder sister (35 years old) works in a factory, and his younger brother (30 years old) is currently unemployed. His mother has also given up her temporary job at a fruit shop to care for him, making their financial situation even more difficult.
[A simple wish is to see the world.]
Yong Shui Tian says his greatest wish is simply to recover. If given the chance, he hopes to travel to China and experience different sights and places.
His dream is modest—to live and to see the world.
[Your support can give him a second chance.]
While insurance covers his chemotherapy, it does not cover the cost of the bone marrow transplant. Already struggling with daily expenses, the family is unable to afford the treatment and has reached out for help.
