Chew Jin Hong was diagnosed at a young age with the rare condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). His childhood was marked by hardship, and as he grew older, his physical condition gradually deteriorated. Today, he is unable to move freely like his peers and is largely dependent on others for daily care.
[Completely bedridden and requires constant care]
Due to severe muscle weakness, Jin Hong once lost control of his head movement, causing difficulty in clearing saliva and putting him in critical condition. He now requires constant supervision. Thankfully, he is still able to speak clearly. To always monitor her son’s condition, his mother, Chia Oh Pang (50 years old), installed CCTV at home. Even when she is out working, she stays connected with him via her phone and keeps a close watch on his safety.
[A single mother carrying endless worries]
Chia Oh Pang is a single mother who earns a modest living by helping her siblings sell frozen food. At times, she has to take leave to return home and care for her son whenever his condition worsens. Each episode brings her deep worry and fear for his safety.
Despite these challenges, she has no choice but to continue working to support their livelihood. The inability to be by her son’s side at all times weighs heavily on her, filling her with both helplessness and guilt.
[Physically limited, yet optimistic]
Although Jin Hong is unable to care for himself, he remains cheerful and positive. He is intelligent, expressive, and often comforts his mother with kind words. Singing is his greatest passion. Music has become his purest and most precious source of joy.

Jin Hong is the youngest in the family, with an elder brother and sister who are still studying. Although his parents are no longer together, his father occasionally returns to bring him for medical follow-ups.
As Jin Hong grows older, the cost of care and daily necessities continue to rise. His single mother struggles to cover all expenses with her limited income and has reached out for assistance.
After careful discussion, the committee has decided to support this brave and optimistic young man. A hospital bed he previously needed has already been donated and delivered, and an air mattress will also be arranged soon. The current items requiring funding are as follows:
Specialized wheelchair — RM5,000
Nutritional milk (Ensure Gold) — 24 cans × RM110 = RM2,640
Diapers — 48 packs × RM32.30 = RM1,550.40
Total: RM9,190.40
