SKU: Case-22

Case No. 2242: Now 20 years old, a Dusun girl from Sabah, ABBY NABILA SATEVE, once lived like any other girl her age with full of dreams and hope for the future. However, fate dealt her a devastating blow. She was diagnosed with a malignant tumour in her left femur (commonly known as thigh bone). Despite undergoing 12 rounds of chemotherapy, her left thigh remained severely swollen, and the nerves around the bone deteriorated. To prevent further threat to her life, she was forced to undergo a high-level amputation of her left leg in 2022. Since then, she has relied on a prosthetic limb to walk.

Currently, the prosthetic limb she is using has become loose, making it unstable for her to stand and walk, posing a constant risk of falling. She urgently needs a new custom prosthetic. Unfortunately, her single mother earns a very modest income and is unable to afford the cost. With no other options, they are turning to the public for help.

For Abby, this prosthetic limb is not just a support. It is her chance to stand firm again and continue pursuing her dreams.

A Sudden Turn In Life

Her illness began in June 2021, when she suddenly experienced severe pain and rapid swelling in her left knee. Within a few months, she lost the ability to walk and had to rely on a wheelchair. She was later diagnosed with left femoral osteosarcoma and underwent nearly a year of chemotherapy, but her condition did not improve. Eventually, on April 20, 2022, she had no choice but to undergo amputation. From that moment on, she lost not only her ability to walk normally, but also the freedom to run.

After the surgery came a long rehabilitation period. Due to her condition, she had to drop out of school. Despite everything, she remains strong and resilient. After completing her rehabilitation, she longs to work and become independent. She told social workers that she hopes to work as an assistant in a clinic and give back to society. However, due to her limited education, her hopes were dashed.

Now, she does not ask for much from the future. She simply hopes to find a job to ease her mother’s burden. If she is unable to secure employment, she wishes to continue her studies in a technical institute.

【A Struggling Single-Parent Family】

Abby is the youngest in her family. Her 22-year-old brother is married with two children and works in a factory, earning just enough to support his own family. Her mother works at a restaurant and currently lives with Abby and her 7-year-old grandchild, supporting the household of three.

Her mother, MARRY MAGDILIN LIANSUN (40 years old) is deeply worried, fearing that Abby may fall due to the unstable prosthetic, suffer further injuries, or lose confidence in rebuilding her life. However, she simply cannot afford the cost of a new prosthetic limb. Left with no choice and in great distress, she has turned to us for help.

Please Help Abby Walk Steadily Again
