Case No. 2240: Yen Yin Hao has already undergone two heart surgeries. The first at the age of 1, and the second at 11. This year, at 21, he is scheduled for his third surgery. Every ten years, he faces another major blow. This is not fate, but rather a long battle against illness that has never truly let him go.
From the moment he was born, he has been fighting to stay alive. We sincerely appeal to kind-hearted individuals nationwide to extend a helping hand and assist Yen Yin Hao in raising RM100,000 for his heart surgery. Please do not let this young man, who is just beginning his journey in life, face such a heavy burden alone.
[Complex condition: Tetralogy of Fallot]
After Yen Yin Hao was born, doctors discovered that his heart was beating abnormally. After thorough examinations, he was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot — a complex and critical condition involving the absence of the pulmonary valve, a hole in the heart, and blockage of the blood vessels leading to the lungs.
At the age of 1, he underwent surgery to close the hole in his heart and clear the blocked blood vessels. At 11, he had a pulmonary valve replacement surgery. These two major operations have supported him in reaching where he is today.
[Premature calcification of pulmonary valve, danger approaching]
Generally, an implanted pulmonary valve can last about 20 years. However, Yin Hao’s pulmonary valve has calcified prematurely, and the deterioration has occurred rapidly and unexpectedly, leaving the family unprepared.
Doctors have warned that if surgery is not performed as soon as possible, blood may flow back into the heart, causing swelling, heart failure, and even becoming life-threatening.
[Follow-up visits changed from once a year to twice a year]
What was once an annual follow-up has quietly become a twice-yearly one. His mother, Chen Shuk Feng (57 years old), had already sensed that something was wrong. As she shared her son’s condition with our social worker, she broke down in tears several times. She is heartbroken as each surgery is another major trauma to her son’s body, and the RM100,000 surgery cost is an overwhelming burden they cannot overcome.
Her son’s serious illness has placed immense pressure on her and caused her to overthink, but her determination to protect her son remains clear. Her greatest wish is simple, which is that her son can live safely and healthily.
Yen Yin Hao said that if he has to undergo another surgery in the future, he hopes it will be much, much later, preferably at least 30 years from now, because he wants to take care of his parents first. He says this lightly, but the worry on his face cannot be hidden. This 21-year-old carries the weight of his entire family in his heart.
[After father’s stroke, the family can no longer afford the surgery]
His father, Yen Kok Keong (60 years old), suffered a stroke two years ago and has yet to fully recover. He is unable to continue working and requires long-term treatment. He previously worked in newspaper delivery but has now completely lost his source of income.
Yin Hao is the youngest in the family, with three elder sisters (aged 31, 28, and 25). The eldest and second sisters are married and are also facing financial difficulties in their own families. Currently, the household relies only on the third sister, who works as a clerk, and Yin Hao, who works as a mobile phone sales assistant, earning a modest income, along with the father’s past savings, to barely cover living and medical expenses. For this family, it is truly impossible to afford the high surgery cost, and they have no choice but to seek help from us.
After understanding the situation of Yen Yin Hao’s family, we have decided to initiate this fundraising effort to help raise RM100,000 for his heart surgery. We sincerely appeal to kind-hearted individuals nationwide to contribute to this crowdfunding.
Every donation you make is a source of strength that keeps him going; every share you make brings him one step closer to a second chance at life. Thank you.
