Case No. 2228:Mr. Kong Chee Leong passed away on the evening of the 4th of this month while being sent to the hospital. His life came to an end during the journey, leaving his family with deep sorrow and the harsh reality that even the basic costs of his funeral arrangements have become a heavy financial burden.

According to his sister, Ms. Kong Swee Lan, Mr. Kong suffered a fall on 11 January this year. After being sent to the hospital for examination, doctors confirmed that he had brain hemorrhaging and required emergency surgery. During the operation, he experienced breathing difficulties and had to rely on intubation and a ventilator to sustain his breathing. A suction machine was also required to help clear his airways.

After undergoing treatment for some time, he was eventually discharged from the hospital. However, his health condition had significantly deteriorated, and he required long-term professional care. As his siblings are all elderly and unable to provide full-time care, he was placed in a nursing home so that he could receive proper assistance.

The family had hoped that he would gradually recover. Unfortunately, on the evening of 4 March, he suddenly experienced severe breathing difficulties and extreme physical discomfort. The nursing home staff immediately arranged to send him to the hospital for emergency treatment. Sadly, fate intervened, and he passed away peacefully while on the way to the hospital.

According to the death report, Mr. Kong Chee Leong passed away at 11:20 PM on 4 March 2026 due to geriatric disease.

Mr. Kong was the youngest child in his family, with one elder brother and five elder sisters. Their parents had already passed away many years ago. He remained unmarried throughout his life and worked in the renovation industry in his younger days to support himself. However, prior to the MCO period during the pandemic, years of physical labor caused him to suffer from severe back pain, making it impossible for him to continue working. As a result, he was forced to resign from his job. Since then, he had no stable income and lived a modest and difficult life until his recent illness.

Today, his siblings are also elderly. His brother works as a plumber, but his income is unstable. Four of his sisters are married but do not have jobs, while his sister Ms. Kong Swee Lan survives by doing temporary cleaning work.

Faced with the sudden funeral expenses, the elderly siblings simply do not have the financial ability to bear the cost. With no other options left, Ms. Kong Swee Lan has turned to us for assistance, hoping that members of the public will extend their compassion so that her younger brother can be given a dignified farewell.

We will handle the entire funeral arrangement for the deceased, including body transfer, prayer ceremony, and cremation. We sincerely appeal to compassionate individuals nationwide to lend their support so that the departed may rest in peace.

Kindly contact our social workers for further details if you are willing to contribute towards the full funeral expenses. Thank you.

The prayer ceremony will be held on Friday, 6 March 2026, at the Kwong Tong Cemetery Kuala Lumpur (Hall Q). The cremation will take place on Saturday, 7 March 2026, and the ashes will later be arranged and kept by the family.
