Case No. 2227: Pavin Raj A/L Kalivijian has endured a period that nearly broke his entire family. During the worst of his illness, he suffered from persistent abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, and extreme fatigue. He was often too weak to even get out of bed.
Today, he is able to stand again. However, his condition has not yet fully stabilized, and he urgently needs help. Pavin Raj was once an active, cheerful boy who loved to laugh and play. In February 2025, his illness struck suddenly and aggressively. Within a short period, he lost 17 kilograms, dropping from 54 kg to a heartbreaking weight. For his mother, it was a traumatic time that she still struggles to talk about, as she watched helplessly while her son grew thinner by the day.
After seeking treatment at multiple hospitals, doctors finally diagnosed him with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), specifically Crohn’s Disease, which is a chronic condition that must not be taken lightly and requires long-term management.

During a recent home visit by our social workers, Pavin Raj seemed to be in a relatively good mood, his smile reflecting the innocence of a child his age. However, Crohn’s Disease cannot be judged by appearances alone. If his physical strength and nutritional intake are not adequately maintained, the disease may relapse at any time, potentially affecting his growth, immunity, and academic performance.
At just 12 years old, he is still in school. Illness should not be the reason that interrupts his education or slows his development. Stable and continuous nutritional support is a crucial part of his fight against this disease.

Pavin Raj is the youngest child in the family. He has a 15-year-old sister who is still studying, and they live together with their elderly grandmother. His father, Kalivijian A/L Mathyvanan (43 years old), works as a lorry driver, while his mother, Kunawathi A/P Thangavelu (40 years old), is a hospital caregiver. Their income is modest, yet they have been doing their best to support the entire household.
