Case No. 2202: Due to the extremely high cost of treatment, his family is unable to bear the financial burden alone. At the request of his parents, we are launching a fundraising campaign for CHONG CARLZHOON to raise RM78,000, covering six months of medical treatment. We humbly appeal to kind-hearted individuals nationwide to extend their generosity and help this young life regain hope.

[A rare disease that took away his laughter.]

On 12 July 2025, CHONG CARLZHOON experienced a life-threatening emergency. He suddenly developed convulsions at home, foamed at the mouth, and lost consciousness. Fortunately, his parents returned home in time and rushed him to the hospital.

Upon arrival, CARLZHOON was unable to breathe on his own and had suffered massive intracranial bleeding. He immediately underwent emergency surgery to remove the blood clots. He was later diagnosed with spontaneous intraventricular hemorrhage secondary to Moyamoya disease.

Moyamoya disease is a rare, progressive cerebrovascular disorder in which blood vessels appear “smoke-like” on imaging. It can eventually lead to seizures, cognitive impairment, and other serious cerebrovascular complications.

As a result of this rare brain condition, CARLZHOON can now only move the left side of his body. His right side is completely paralyzed, he is unable to speak, and he can no longer manage daily activities independently.

[Parents hide their tears, hearts breaking for their child.]

CARLZHOON’s father, CHONG FUT PENG (55 years old), has always been a strong man. Yet since his son fell ill, he has quietly shed tears many times, stepping outside the ward or turning away so his child would not see his pain.

As CARLZHOON is unable to eat, he relies on a nasogastric tube for feeding. Whenever his son’s suffering is mentioned, his father breaks into tears.

His mother, LAI YOK PING (49 years old), sobs as she recalls how her son initially struggled to accept reality. He would vent his emotions by moving his left limbs violently in bed. To prevent him from hurting himself, they had no choice but to restrain his left arm and leg. “If we don’t restrain him, we fear he’ll injure himself. But restraining him breaks my heart,” she said through tears.

Every sentence the couple speaks carries pain—not from weakness, but from deep love. They find it unbearable that a healthy child could suddenly be struck by such a devastating illness.

[The parents are willing to give everything for their child’s recovery.]

The parents firmly believe that CARLZHOON is still young and refuse to give up as long as there is even a glimmer of hope. In April 2026, he will need to undergo another brain surgery.

LAI YOK PING understands that her son may never fully return to his former self. However, if he can regain basic self-care abilities and live safely, that would already mean everything to them. An 80% recovery would be their greatest wish.

After months of treatment, CARLZHOON has shown encouraging progress. He has gone from being completely immobile to now being able to sit up. However, Moyamoya disease is extremely rare in Malaysia, and insurance does not cover the treatment. The family has exhausted their savings and can no longer cope with the mounting medical expenses.

CARLZHOON is the youngest child in the family and has an older sister who is still studying. His mother works as a clerk, and his father is a salesman. Once a modest but stable household, the family has now been overwhelmed by this sudden tragedy. With no other options, they have turned to us for help.

After careful consideration, we have decided to raise RM78,000 to cover six months of CARLZHOON’s treatment, enabling him to continue his rehabilitation. We sincerely appeal to kind-hearted individuals nationwide to extend a helping hand. Kindly also help by sharing this urgent appeal. Thank you.
