SKU: Case-2188

Case No. 2188: At birth, AURA’s face turned bluish-purple, and she did not cry. Her mother collapsed in shock, instinctively sensing that her child’s life was slipping away. Doctors soon discovered that AURA had severe structural abnormalities in her heart, which were two holes within the heart and an extremely complex, critical condition. At that time, she was too small and fragile to undergo major surgery. She could only struggle in the neonatal intensive care unit for three months. It was only after her weight reached a minimum requirement that she was able to undergo her first heart surgery.

Today, AURA has finally reached the required weight of 10 kilograms for her second surgery. However, this also means she has reached the final window for treatment. Any further delay could put her life in immediate danger.

[A rare and extremely complex congenital heart condition.]

This little girl, NUR AURA SYAFIA BINTI MUHAMMAD SHAHRUL ARIF, was diagnosed at birth with multiple serious congenital heart defects, including:

  • TGA (Transposition of the Great Arteries)
  • Small ASD (Atrial Septal Defect)
  • Moderate outlet VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect)
  • Small PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus)
  • Mild to moderate PS (Pulmonary Stenosis)
  • Anomalous coronary artery origin
  • Failure to thrive

This is an exceptionally complex and life-threatening combination of congenital heart conditions, yet it has fallen upon a baby who has only just begun her life.

[The first surgery left a long scar; the second is now urgent.]

AURA’s father, MUHAMMAD SHAHRUL ARIF BIN MAT ZAN (30 years old), shared with our social workers that AURA was rushed into intensive care immediately after birth. Three months later, her first surgery successfully repaired one of the heart defects. However, another hole could not be treated at the time because of its hidden and difficult location. Doctors had hoped that the remaining defect might heal on its own, but reality has been cruel. To this day, there has been no improvement. AURA can no longer afford to wait.

Her mother, NOR ADILAH BINTI MANAF (30 years old), says that every time she sees her daughter struggling to breathe with an oxygen tube attached to her nose, her heart feels as though it is being torn apart. The helplessness, the fear, and the pain of watching her child suffer without being able to help are unbearable. She can only wish that her daughter could smile, laugh, and play freely like other healthy children.

The parents’ simplest wish is for their child’s heart to beat normally and for her to breathe without struggle. Yet for AURA, even this most basic instinct for survival has been taken away.

[A family of six surviving on an unstable income.]

AURA is the third child in the family. She has a 9-year-old sister, a 4-year-old brother, and an 8-month-old younger sister. All her siblings are healthy, but only AURA has suffered such a cruel fate. Her father works as a plumber, relying entirely on irregular and unstable job-based income. Her mother is a full-time homemaker, already exhausted from caring for four children.

The total cost of the surgery amounts to RM100,000. Due to the complexity of the operation, the hospital has managed to help raise half of the amount. However, the remaining RM50,000 is still a huge sum for this family, which they simply cannot cross on their own. With no other option, the parents have turned to us for help, hoping that together we can give their daughter a chance to live.

[Let us save AURA together!]

She is only two years old. She should be running freely, laughing, and enjoying a carefree childhood; instead, she is enduring pain that even adults struggle to bear. We have decided to raise the remaining RM50,000 needed for AURA’s life-saving surgery to help her survive this critical moment and give her the chance to grow, live, and dream like other children.

Please extend your helping hand and save this precious little girl. Every donation and every share becomes a lifeline. It gives AURA the strength to keep living.
