Case No. 2182: From the moment he was born, this tiny life has faced multiple serious health challenges. To this day, he remains dependent on a ventilator and a feeding pump (tube feeding) to survive. Unfortunately, his family is facing severe financial hardship and is unable to afford the cost of these two essential medical devices. They sincerely appeal to kind-hearted members of the public to help raise RM9,000 so that baby Poyakshan can be discharged safely and return home as soon as possible.
Poyakshan Rau is currently being treated in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and has been diagnosed with the following conditions:
- Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD), requiring ongoing respiratory support.
- Moderate Laryngomalacia, for which he has undergone supraglottoplasty surgery to improve airway patency.
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) with swallowing difficulties, making tube feeding via a feeding pump necessary.
[Five months of waiting, yet his parents cannot hold their child.]
Day after day, Poyakshan’s parents can only watch their baby through layers of medical equipment as he struggles to breathe. A breathing mask covers his face, and a feeding tube runs through his nose. His tiny body bears pain and hardship far beyond what a child of his age should endure, yet he continues to fight bravely.
His parents’ greatest wish is simply to bring their son home, so he no longer has to lie alone on a hospital bed.
[Parents at the end of their means yet never giving up.]
The father, Mohanrau A/L Suriamurthy (35 years old), works in the IT field, while the mother, Megala Devi A/P Subramaniam (33 years old), is a housewife. This is their first child. Previously, the father had already exhausted his savings due to the grandfather’s illness. He is also responsible for supporting both mothers from both sides of the family. Under such circumstances, they are simply unable to afford the medical equipment their baby urgently needs.
Despite their desperate situation, they have never once considered giving up on their only child. Witnessing this, our social workers are deeply heartbroken.
[A sincere appeal to help baby Poyakshan go home.]
With the parents’ consent, we are launching a RM9,000 medical equipment crowdfunding campaign for baby Poyakshan, covering the following:
- CPAP Machine (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) – RM6,500
- Feeding Pump – RM2,500
Once these devices are secured, baby Poyakshan can be discharged sooner and finally be held in his parents’ loving arms.
Every donation is a step that brings this baby closer to home. Every share is a light that guides him on his journey back home. Please help this fragile little life and fulfil the parents’ simplest and deepest wish: to bring their child home and finally hold him in their arms.
