Case No. 2169:Despite his excellent academic performance and bright future, fate has been cruel to Lim An. From the moment he was born, he suffered from a rare congenital heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot, a condition involving a hole in the heart and blockage in the blood vessels leading to the lungs. He now urgently needs pulmonary valve replacement surgery, which is one of the four essential heart valves. However, his single mother cannot afford the high cost.

When he was two years old, doctors performed a life-saving heart surgery to close the hole in his heart and inserted a temporary artificial pulmonary valve to allow blood to flow to the lungs properly.
He was supposed to undergo another surgery at the age of 5 or 6 to replace the artificial valve, but since his body was still developing, early replacement could cause the valve to calcify too quickly. Therefore, doctors opted for an MRI scan every two years to monitor his heart’s condition.
However, over the years, the “temporary” valve has gradually failed. Now, his heart has become swollen from overexertion, putting his life in critical danger.

As a child, Lim An often questioned why he had to suffer from this illness.
“Why me?” he used to ask himself quietly. But as he grew older, he learnt to accept his fate with optimism. He no longer wants to be trapped by his condition. Instead, he chooses to face life positively and courageously.
His wish is simple: to stay healthy, continue his studies, and pursue his dreams, just like any other youth his age.

His mother, Madam Koh Choon Mooi (Ah Choon Mooi), aged 53, is a tailor who works tirelessly to support the family with her modest income. Lim An’s older sister, aged 23, is currently unemployed, so the entire household depends solely on their mother’s small earnings and occasional help from relatives.
For years, Madam Koh has lived in fear for her son’s fragile health. Just as she thought she could finally see him thrive in university, his illness worsened. Though she has long known that another surgery would be necessary, the overwhelming cost has always been beyond her means. Now that her son’s heart is dangerously enlarged, she has nowhere left to turn. In desperation, she has appealed for help through us, which has decided to launch this crowdfunding campaign to save this determined young man’s life.
