FUNDRAISING CASE 2162 TIEW ENG WEI
He cannot walk but still strives to live a life of value. When he was only three years old, a car accident threw him out of the vehicle, leaving his lower body permanently paralyzed. For 30 years, he has endured pain and hardship, and now he needs your support to continue facing life with courage.
Case No. 2162:33-year-old Tiew Eng Wei urgently needs a patient hoist and a wheelchair (with a low-profile seat cushion). He is appealing for RM8,350 in donations to purchase these items, which would help him live with greater comfort and stability.
[It is a lifelong condition for paralysis below the waist.]
Since the accident at age three, Tiew has been confined to a wheelchair. The crash caused severe spinal cord injury, leaving him unable to stand or walk. It also resulted in neurogenic bladder and bowel dysfunction, requiring him to visit the hospital every two weeks to have his catheter changed in order to urinate.
His spinal injury has led to multiple complications, including Severe thoracic kyphoscoliosis, Bilateral hip dislocation, and Pressure injury at the thoracic hump. He also suffers from hydrocephalus, for which he underwent surgery years ago.
Despite these challenges, he has never surrendered to fate. He takes on part-time work at a photo studio, earning a modest income with his own hands and determination.
[It’s not that he doesn’t have dreams. He’s just learned not to ask for too much.]
Tiew, like everyone else, dreams of having his own life and future. But his body limits what he can do. Fate may have taken away his ability to run, yet it has not taken away his love for life. He chooses to work, to smile, and to never give up.
His father passed away from nasal cancer in 2019, leaving behind Tiew, his mother, and his younger sister. His mother works as a food delivery worker, while his sister has just started her career. The family barely manages to cover their daily expenses.
[A mother’s silent devotion is now beyond her strength.]
From the day of the accident, his mother, Low Bee Lee, has carried her son in her arms from infancy to adulthood. For 33 years, wherever they go, it is she who lifts him up and sets him down every single time.
But time spares no one. Now 59 years old, her strength is fading. Her son has grown heavier, and her arms can no longer bear his weight. During a recent transfer, she injured her arm and could hardly lift it afterward. The old wheelchair is also worn out and unsafe for his use. Doctors have advised the purchase of a patient hoist to assist with moving Tiew safely, reducing the physical strain on his mother.
[Your kindness can help him live with dignity.]
Tiew urgently needs the following three medical items, totaling RM8,350:
## Manual Hydraulic Patient Hoist – RM4,500
## 18” ROHO® QUADTRO Low Profile Cushion – RM2,000
## 18” Manual Lightweight Wheelchair with Detachable Armrests and Footrests – RM1,850
This amount may seem impossible for his family, but for many of us, it’s a small act of compassion that can change a life.
Your donation will be a ray of hope for Tiew Eng Wei and heartfelt recognition of a mother’s love that has endured for 33 years.
Please lend a helping hand so that Tiew can continue his journey with dignity. Kindly share his story so that help may reach him sooner.
