FUNDRAISING CASE 2148 TONG YI ONN
Three-year-old Tong Yi Onn struggles to walk and urgently needs RM3,750 to purchase a special wheelchair. We sincerely appeal to kind-hearted individuals across the nation to lend a helping hand and fulfill his small wish, which is to move freely and live with dignity.
Case No. 2148:Tong Yi Onn was an extremely premature baby, born at only 26 weeks of pregnancy. He weighed merely 1.02 kilograms at birth. His premature arrival made his body especially fragile, and from the very beginning, illness has clung to him tightly.
He was born with four holes in his heart and suffered from pneumonia, which kept him hospitalized for an entire year. What’s even more heartbreaking is that Yi Onn was diagnosed with Mixed Spastic-Dystonic Diplegia, a condition that causes low muscle tone in his lower limbs and makes it difficult for him to walk independently.
[Multiple hardships, parents’ hearts in pieces.]
Although Yi Onn has grown a little older, doctors have confirmed that he has severe learning disabilities. Now, at three years old, he still cannot speak or walk on his own. He also underwent brain surgery for hydrocephalus, during which a tube was implanted to help drain excess fluid from his brain. Every treatment and every struggle brings deep pain to his parents.
Like any other child, Yi Onn longs to be held in his parents’ arms, which make him feel safest. Yet he cannot understand the silent heartbreak and helplessness his parents endure every day.
[This is a family that refuses to give up.]
Yi Onn’s daily life depends entirely on the care of his mother and older sister. His 13-year-old sister lovingly helps care for him every morning. His mother, Chong Jing Wen (41 years old), works as an office clerk and often brings Yi Onn along to work so she can look after him. His father, Tong Yong Voon (41 years old), works as a construction pipe supervisor and is often away from home for long periods. He only gets to reunite with his family during holidays.
[Urgent need for a special wheelchair.]
As Yi Onn grows, his baby stroller can no longer support his body. Doctors have recommended that his parents get him a special wheelchair that will allow him to travel and live more comfortably and safely. However, this wheelchair costs RM3,750, a heavy financial burden for the family, whose modest income barely covers their daily expenses. Therefore, with the parents’ consent, we are launching this crowdfunding appeal to help purchase the special wheelchair for Yi Onn.
We sincerely urge the public to extend their compassion to this brave little boy to help him gain more freedom, confidence, and comfort, and to ease the daily struggles of his loving parents.
Every contribution represents a powerful act of kindness for this child. Please also share this appeal so that little Yi Onn can soon have his own wheelchair. Thank you.
