SKU: Case-2078

Case No. 2078: Ng Soon Teik, 52 years old, is living with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus and tuberculosis. Due to side effects from his medications, his weight has drastically dropped—once strong and sturdy, his body has become frail and thin.

He shared that Type 1 diabetes runs in his family; both his father and sister also suffer from the same condition.

[From restaurant head chef to part-time kitchen helper]
A devoted husband and father, Mr. Ng has always put his family first. Sadly, illness has taken a toll on his strength. He now tires easily and often feels dizzy. Once a full-time chef, he has been forced to take on only light duties, such as chopping vegetables in the kitchen, a far cry from his former role.

His condition continues to worsen. After fainting several times while working, he had to be rushed to the hospital. Doctors have since advised him against heavy labour. Currently, he can only take up part-time work in kitchens to earn a modest income.

His wife, whom he affectionately calls “Launty Yin,” stays home to care for their two school-going sons. With no other source of income, the entire family relies solely on Mr. Ng’s small earnings from odd kitchen jobs. It’s barely enough to get by.

[Medical supplies running out]
His stock of diabetes medical supplies is running dangerously low, and he simply cannot afford to replenish them. With no other options left, he turned to us for help.

We have decided to assist this resilient man by raising funds for a six-month supply of medical items needed to manage his diabetes. The breakdown is as follows:

  1. Glucose test strips: 30 boxes x RM32.00 = RM960.00
  2. Lancets (blood sampling needles): 7 boxes x RM23.50 = RM164.50
  3. Insulin pen needles: 7 boxes x RM22.90 = RM160.30

Total: RM1,284.80

We humbly ask for your help to get Mr. Ng through this difficult period and give his family a fighting chance at a better tomorrow. Kindly share this message as well so that your kindness and a simple repost could go a long way in getting him the help he needs. Thank you.
