FUNDRAISING CASE 2070 RENEE SAW FU NING
A 9-year-old girl urgently needs RM80,000 for life-saving heart surgery! We earnestly appeal to the kindness of the public to help this young girl undergo a crucial heart repair surgery as soon as possible.
Case No. 2070: When Renee Saw Fu Ning was just over a year old, what was supposed to be a routine check-up took a life-altering turn. The doctor detected a faint heart murmur and recommended further examination at the hospital. No one expected that this soft “murmur” would turn out to be a grim warning from fate.
After a series of thorough tests, Renee was finally diagnosed at the age of three with atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD) with mitral regurgitation, a serious congenital heart condition involving multiple holes in the heart. Doctors informed the family that she urgently needed surgical repair of the heart defect and a PDA ligation. The surgery could not be delayed.
[She’s just a child, with dreams yet to fulfil.]
Now 9 years old, Renee has dreams, places she longs to see, and things she hopes to achieve. Her world should be filled with laughter and sunshine. Yet, when asked by our social worker about her dreams, she fell silent. Deep down, she knows that only by defeating her illness can her dreams possibly come true.
Thinking about her condition, she buried herself in her mother’s arms, her safest, warmest refuge. She yearns not only for her mother’s embrace but also for the chance to keep living.
She wants to survive; she wants a healthy body; she wants to explore the vast and beautiful world.
[Behind her mother’s smile lies an unspoken pain.]
When the social worker asked how she felt upon learning about her condition, this usually strong little girl burst into tears. Clinging tightly to her mother, she buried all her fear, anxiety, and sorrow in silent tears.
Her mother, Kathy Boo Hoe Xin (37 years old), gently stroked Renee’s hair and gave her a warm smile. But behind that smile was heartbreak and deep guilt. “She was born normal. Even my prenatal checkups showed nothing wrong…” Kathy never anticipated that her daughter would be born with a heart defect.
Renee’s father, Saw Kwee Foong (39 years old), was equally devastated. Although helpless, he keeps encouraging Renee to be strong and brave in this critical battle.
Kathy is a full-time housewife, while her husband works as an IT technician. Their modest household also includes Renee’s 7-year-old sister. As the eldest daughter, Renee’s health is the family’s greatest concern.
[A surgery that cannot wait, a life that cannot be lost.]
Due to the high cost of surgery at private hospitals, the family initially chose to wait for an operation date at a government hospital. But as Renee grows, her heart condition worsens. Doctors warned that further delays could lead to heart failure and deteriorating valve function. With no other options, her parents made the painful decision to transfer her to a private hospital for immediate surgery.
However, the cost of surgery at the private hospital is a staggering RM80,000, an unimaginable figure for this ordinary family. The financial burden is overwhelming, yet her parents are determined not to give up. In desperation, they reached out to us for help in launching a crowdfunding campaign to save their daughter.
[Your kindness is her hope.]
Dear kind-hearted individuals, we sincerely appeal for your support. Help us raise this life-saving amount for Renee and give her a future filled with hope.
