Case No. 2056: Only 6 months old, Andy is at a crucial stage of development, learning to roll over and babble. Yet, his body remains frail and small. Due to malnutrition, he resembles a 3-month-old infant. His growth is clearly delayed, and even basic motor skills are slow to develop.
Since birth, Andy has frequently fallen ill. At just 3 months old, he was rushed to the hospital for severe coughing and breathing difficulties. Doctors diagnosed him with a serious lung infection and further discovered that he suffers from moderate to severe laryngomalacia and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). In March this year, he underwent surgery and is still in the recovery phase.
As his throat has not fully healed, doctors have advised that he must be fed through a tube to prevent further infections. However, this post-surgery feeding restriction has caused him to become severely malnourished, with growth far behind other babies his age. To help him regain health and catch up developmentally, he urgently needs special formula milk.

This cost is a heavy burden for Andy’s father, Khern Kian Yap (23 years old), who works as a fish seller at a local wet market and earns a modest income. His mother, Lai Li Jun (29 years old), is a full-time housewife who cares for Andy and his two older siblings. The family of five is already struggling to make ends meet.
