His wife was unemployed during the pandemic, and his 18-year-old daughter was still studying. They were unable to handle Mr. Wong's funeral. Due to the serious shortage of wards and hospital beds, as long as the COVID-19 patients have no severe symptoms, they will be required to quarantine at home and wait for follow-up arrangements. 53-year-old Wong Yoke Heng, who lives in Kuala Lumpur, was quarantined at home after being diagnosed with the COVID-19 virus on July 15. However, being quarantined at home has left many patients do not know how to deal with their own conditions. Some have not even waited for treatment and passed away suddenly within 5 days.

At around 7 pm on July 20, Mr. Wong suddenly had difficulty breathing at home, and his daughter Wong Ying Ying immediately called an ambulance. However, when the ambulance arrived, his father had already passed away. According to the death report from the hospital, Mr. Wong passed away at home on July 20 (7.30 pm) due to COVID-19.

Mr. Wong's daughter, Wong Ying Ying told our social workers that parents have stopped working for a long time because of MCO, so they rely on savings to survive during MCO. She was only 18 years old and still studying. It was hard for them to accept the death of Mr. Wong and they were very sad. They even couldn't deal with Mr. Wong's funeral. Therefore, DaAi decided to fully support and help them. We would also like to ask everyone to donate and help them together.

In the past few months, through so many death cases reported to DaAi, we know that Malaysia’s medical system are facing huge challenges, from ambulances, ICU emergency rooms, morgues, and even cremation sites. Therefore, we hope that everyone will give support and help to the social workers of DaAi, the medical staff, and the funeral industry who are fighting on the front line, to overcome this pandemic together.

Since the remains of COVID-19 were not allowed to be kept for long, we had to send the remains to be cremated immediately before any processes of the funeral. We must strictly abide by the SOP given by the Ministry of Health (KKM) to handle the whole process of his funeral, which included body transfer, cremation, memorial service, and ashes placement.

If anyone is interested in donation for the whole funeral service or go to worship, kindly contact us for more information. Thank you.

The late Mr. Wong's ashes are currently placed at Kwong Tong Cemetery Kuala Lumpur (Room 1) strictly following the SOP for prayers on 27th July 2021 (Tuesday). On 28th July 2021 (Wednesday) 2 o’clock AFTERNOON he will be rested in Kepong Cemetery Tower Kuala Lumpur KA37/8F-19.

We call upon everyone to donate for Mr. Wong’s funeral service. We would also like to remind everyone to strictly abide by the SOP during this COVID-19 pandemic as the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths continues to increase, and we have been entrusted to handle 8 deaths from this disease. Take care and stay safe.
