Case No. 571 Crowdfunding: Crowdfunding of RM28,800 for Poor Granny Yip as Medicine and Living Expenses for a Year.

“Granny Yip forced to sell pastries and cakes at kopitiams to earn a pitiful daily wage of RM20. Poor Granny Yip cannot afford her own medical expenses with this salary and is prone to regular fainting due to hunger”

73-year-old Granny Yip Kwai Chan is suffering from heart disease, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, high cholesterol and diabetes. In order to afford her own living cost, she has to sell pastries and cakes at kopitiams nearby her house via taxi. She can only sell out them by visiting kopitiams after kopitiams. She earns about RM20 per day after deductions of taxi fares on her daily nett wage of RM40.

The elderly Granny Yip is on her own, without any financial aids or helps from others. Although she can make a living by selling pastries and cakes, she cannot even pay her own medicine expenses with the pathetic wage. As a result of this poor condition, she forced herself to save more money on her medicine expenses, instead of on her food.

Due to malnutrition and improper meals on a daily basis, there were a few occasions where Granny Yip passed out on the street. She is currently living at Jinjang, Kuala Lumpur.

Yip Kwai Chan’s husband passed away years ago, and she has not been contacting her 77-year-old brother who is living in a church nursing home. To make matters worse, she has a 31-year-old daughter who is a victim of depression and autism. Both women are living together and required medications to manage their conditions and illnesses.

The China Daily raised a fund of RM4000 for Granny Yip four years ago. However, the financial aid has run out.

Nanny Yip is so helpless now; she can only entrust Persatuan Kebajikan Amal Da Ai Malaysia to crowdfund and to collect charity funds all across Malaysia on behalf of her for her medicine and living expenses for a year. A total of RM28,800 is needed. The crowdfunding details are as follows:
