Case No. 566 Crowdfunding: Ng Boon Miang Lost Her Ability to Work after a Stroke. She Requires a Total of RM33,220.00 for Convalescence Fees and Living Expenses for a Year.

“Ng Boon Miang had to live a lonely life after the passing of her adoptive mother. To add insult to injury, she suffered a stroke a year ago and is at an all-time low in her life”

After diagnosing stroke, 42-year-old Ng Boon Miang spent two months in the hospital. She could not walk and had to continue to convalesce after she was discharged. However, she cannot afford even the fees of basic massage and acupuncture sessions, not to mention her living expenses. She knew she had to overcome this stumbling block and not letting it to diminish her will to live.

Ng Boon Miang had to be bedridden at her living room after she was discharged. With her own strong will and the encouragement from her husband, she decided to walk again. Nonetheless, the stroke has definitely taken a toll on her legs, requiring her to receive treatments, namely physiotherapy, massage, and acupuncture. As long as these treatments go smoothly, she will be able to overturn this terrible situation. But with no incomes and savings, she will find it tough to afford massage and acupuncture sessions that cost RM80 and RM40 each, respectively.

Ng Boon Miang was an orphan before she was adopted by a woman from China who is residing in Malaysia. With the passing of her adoptive mother and no siblings, she had overcome her painful past and look forward to her future. On the other hand, life has not been kind to her as she suffered a stroke a year ago, losing her ability to walk and work as a consequence. The only thing on her mind now is to have a speedy recovery and continue to live as a normal person. Ng Boon Miang was a dedicated sales account administrator before her stroke.

Ng Boon Miang husband works as a courier with a monthly income between RM700 – RM800. He does not have any siblings; thus no one can share the cost of living burden with him. In order to take care of his wife and mother who is living in Malacca, he had to sell his car and rely only on a motorcycle to travel now. Ng Boon Miang requires Grab or taxi to make her follow-up visits to hospital. She is currently living in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.

Ng Boon Miang is desperately in need of help because she does not even have the money to visit the hospital by Grab or taxi. Comparing her previous life of being able to walk and work, her existing situation is terrible, forcing her to be depressed every day.

To make matters worse, she has delayed rental payments of RM3600 for three months as well as delayed utility bills of RM700 for ten months. In addition to these awful living conditions, she also cannot afford her expenses on food, necessities, massage, and acupuncture sessions. Her only income at the moment is a monthly aid of RM400 from a charity organisation at Wangsa Maju that will last for a year only.

Ng Boon Miang is so helpless now; she can only entrust Persatuan Kebajikan Amal Da Ai Malaysia to crowdfund and to collect charity funds all across Malaysia on behalf of her for convalescence fees and living expenses. A total of RM33,220 is needed for convalescence fees and living expenses for a year.
