BENEFICIARY PROFILE 2073 SIVAGIRI A/L GUNALAN

This 14-year-old boy who can no longer walk needs your help to regain hope in life. We sincerely appeal to all kind-hearted individuals across the country to lend a hand and help Sivagiri A/L Gunalan, a teenager battling muscular dystrophy, raise RM3,680 to purchase two wheelchairs. These wheelchairs would give him not just mobility but also a renewed sense of independence and confidence. Every contribution, no matter the amount, brings light to his future.
SKU: Case-2073
Case No. 2073: Sivagiri is unable to walk. Due to his large body frame, even his father struggles to support him, and he now relies entirely on a wheelchair for mobility. As he grows, his current wheelchair can no longer bear his weight, making even the simple act of transferring in and out of the chair a painful and risky task for both him and his father.
But he doesn’t just need one wheelchair, he needs two: a special wheelchair for daily outings and a regular wheelchair for bathing and using the toilet. Unfortunately, his family’s financial situation makes even this basic need feel like an impossible luxury.

[A disease that weakens his body everyday.]
Sivagiri was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when he was just 7 years old. By the age of 10, he became dependent on a wheelchair. His condition has caused severe spinal curvature, weak leg muscles, and complications like childhood obesity and severe obstructive sleep apnea. Every night, he requires a BiPAP machine to help him breathe.

His mother, Maliga A/P Gunasagaran (45 years), works in a factory, while his father, Gunalan A/L Munindi (47 years), is a part-time security guard. With a low combined income, they struggle to support their family of five. Sivagiri is the second of three children. His older brother (16 years old) is healthy, but tragically, his younger brother (13 years old) suffers from the same condition. Their father works during the day and takes care of both disabled children at night, exhausted but determined to keep going.

[His wish is to move freely without burdening his father.]
What Sivagiri wants most is to have two wheelchairs that suit his body and needs so he can move around more freely, avoid falling, and relieve his father from the physical strain of lifting him every day.
With his parents’ heartfelt plea for help, we are stepping in to support Sivagiri by raising funds for:
- Special wheelchair: RM3,180
- Standard wheelchair: RM500
- Total needed: RM3,680

[One act of kindness is one step closer to comfort.]
We humbly ask for your help. A small act of kindness can make a big difference in Sivagiri’s life. Whether it’s a donation or simply sharing his story, you can help deliver the wheelchairs and the hope he so desperately needs. Let’s come together to bring warmth and dignity to this brave young boy. Thank you.
