BENEFICIARY PROFILE 2026 KUGAN A/L THENNARASU
Kugan, an 18-year-old boy, needs a special wheelchair to continue moving forward in life. However, his family cannot afford the cost of RM2,230 due to financial hardship. We sincerely appeal to kind-hearted individuals across the nation to lend a helping hand.
Your donation is not just for a wheelchair — it is a window of hope. It will allow Kugan to return to the hospital for follow-up appointments, undergo rehabilitation, and even sit in the sunlight to see the outside world, all while striving to live a better life.
Case No. 2026: Kugan A/L Thennarasu was once a cheerful and lively child. However, he suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a rare genetic disorder that causes progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. His legs are now deformed, he can no longer lift his arms, and he has lost the ability to move independently. Every day is a battle against this cruel disease.
【Lost the Ability to Walk at a Young Age】
Kugan began losing the ability to walk at the age of six. He would tire easily and frequently fall, sometimes even hitting his head, which made him afraid to walk. As his muscles continued to weaken, he lost the ability to walk independently by the time he was in primary school year 3. Despite this, he never gave up on his dreams. With the support of his mother, he continued to attend school using a basic wheelchair until the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted his education. Kugan has a passion for drawing, and his family once hoped he could pursue it as a career. Unfortunately, his condition worsened, and he lost the ability to move his hands freely.
【Missed the Opportunity to Continue Schooling】
Kugan is a bright and eager learner. He told the social worker that he still wishes to return to school, but he is now over the age limit for re-entry. His current goal is to focus on rehabilitation exercises to ease his mother’s burden.
These days, even sitting up has become difficult for him. His spine is severely curved due to long-term immobility. His mother, Krishnavenee A/P Nagappen (48 years old), a housewife, devotes all her time to caring for him — feeding him and attending to his every need — leaving her with little to no personal time. When she needs to leave the house, Kugan’s grandmother steps in to help. She is heartbroken whenever she sees her grandson’s condition.
Kugan has two older brothers. The eldest has just started working, while the second is still job hunting. The family of five survives on the modest income of the father, Thennarasu (55 years old), who drives a lorry, and the small contribution from the eldest son.
The father knows that Kugan urgently needs a special wheelchair, as a regular one is no longer suitable. But the family simply cannot afford it. Feeling helpless, the parents have reached out for assistance in the hope that someone will help their unfortunate son.
We have decided to launch a crowdfunding to purchase a 16-inch Manual Lightweight Wheelchair DAF with a Deep Contoured Seat, and we earnestly appeal to the public to extend their kindness. Help Kugan sit properly, step out of his room, see the world, and continue on his life’s journey. Every contribution, no matter how small, is a source of strength for Kugan. Thank you.
