Due to congenital Hirschsprung’s disease, he cannot digest food or pass stool normally. He has to rely on a colostomy bag attached to his abdomen to assist with waste elimination. Every day is a battle with illness, bringing endless heartbreak to his family.

Case No. 2019: AFFAN LUQMAN BIN MUHAMMAD FIRDAUS’s journey has been full of challenges since birth. In his early days as a newborn, he experienced severe bloating and vomiting. Eventually, he was diagnosed with Total Colonic Aganglionosis Hirschsprung’s Disease.

Doctors have informed Affan’s mother that the stoma bag can only be removed through a closure surgery, which can only take place at the earliest a year from now, depending on his condition. Until then, Affan will require special formula milk and stoma bags for his daily care.

Affan is the fifth child in the family. Heartbreakingly, his third older brother also suffered from the same condition. Doctors suspect it may be a hereditary disease caused by a genetic mutation. Affan’s father, Muhammad Firdaus bin Kamarudin (38 years old), and mother, Siti Nur Hasinah binti Hussian (37 years old), are both teachers with modest incomes. With five children and the high cost of Affan’s ongoing medical needs, the family is financially overwhelmed.
In a desperate plea, his parents have reached out to us for help. We have decided to raise funds to cover the cost of one year’s supply of special milk and stoma bags for Affan, totalling RM9,120. Breakdown as follows:
