Case No. 2009: The brother didn’t answer the final call—it was farewell forever. Grieving and helpless sister pleads for donations to fund funeral costs for her childless, unmarried brother, helping him complete his final journey in peace.

“He just didn’t answer the call, yet I will never hear his voice again.” This is the heartbreaking cry of Ms. Au Siew Kim. She never imagined that the moment she couldn’t reach her brother that day was the very moment he was passing away alone and quietly at home.

The deceased, Mr. Au Chee Meng, aged 55, was found lifeless by his sister on April 25, 2025. He had lived alone his entire life and remained unmarried.

According to the death report, Mr. Au Chee Meng passed away at 7:54 p.m. due to complications from chronic diabetes.

Ms. Au Siew Kim told our social workers that she and her brother usually kept in touch through phone calls. When she was unable to reach him that day, she feared something was wrong and went to his home to check, only to discover his passing.

Life is truly unpredictable. Although the siblings had only lost contact for a few days, they were now forever separated, leaving behind immense sorrow.

Previously, Mr. Au suffered from diabetic-related eye complications that caused blood vessel ruptures. He was hospitalized for treatment, but doctors informed him that one eye could not be fully repaired and would require a small tube implant through surgery. Mr. Au originally worked as a renovation worker, but after the Chinese New Year this year, his worsening vision caused his employer to stop offering him work.

Mr. Au Chee Meng is survived by one elder sister and one younger sister, both of whom also suffer from diabetes. His younger sister has a young child and requires dialysis herself. Her family depends solely on her husband’s unstable income. The elder sister, likewise, battling diabetes, suffers from blurred vision and lives under difficult conditions. Neither sister is financially capable of covering the sudden funeral expenses. In her desperation, Ms. Au Siew Kim sought assistance from us. At her request, we have agreed to arrange Mr. Au’s funeral.

We are handling the whole funeral process for the deceased, which includes body transfer, prayer ceremony, and cremation. We sincerely call upon everyone to donate to the funeral so he can rest in peace soon.

If anyone is interested in donating for the entire funeral, please contact any of us for more information. Thank you.

The prayer ceremony will be held at Kwong Tong Funeral Parlour, Kuala Lumpur (Hall R) on Monday, April 28, 2025, followed by cremation on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. The ashes will be placed by his family.
