Case No. 1674: After the elderly uncle, Mr. CHAN AH SANG @ TAN CHEW passed away of illness in the nursing home, the niece was unable to cope with the sudden funeral expenses. We earnestly request the help of the enthusiastic public to donate to the funeral.

The 83-year-old Mr. CHAN AH SANG @ TAN CHEW has been divorced for about 30 years. As he has been out of contact with his children for a long time, no one can handle his funeral. The niece has a meagre income and cannot afford the funeral expenses. We sincerely call upon everyone to donate to his funeral so he can rest in peace soon.

Mr. CHAN AH SANG @ TAN CHEW was a tailor before. After the divorce, his ex-wife left with three children and has been unable to contact them for thirty years. Due to the closure of the tailor shop, the deceased has been out of work since the start of the MCO.

Despite his age, Mr. CHAN AH SANG @ TAN CHEW has never stopped working. After being unemployed, life is not easy. He also has difficulty moving after falling down twice. He is also incontinent and unable to take care of himself. His niece, LEONG SOOK KUIN had no choice but to arrange for him to stay in a non-profit nursing home, hoping to be cared for.

LEONG SOOK KUIN, the deceased's niece, told us that the deceased was her second uncle. Although the second uncle had six brothers and sisters, the eldest uncle and aunt had passed away, and the younger aunt was already 70 years old. They were unable to cope with the funeral expenses.

LEONG SOOK KUIN's mother, the younger sister of her second uncle, Mr. CHAN AH SANG @ TAN CHEW, passed away of illness at the end of last year. Now she has to deal with her uncle's death, which makes her feel very sad. As a niece, although she wishes to handle the funeral for her uncle, her income is meager, and she has no financial ability to cope with sudden expenses. In desperation, she seeks the assistance of Da Ai.

According to the death report issued by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall Environment and Health Department (DBKL), Mr. CHAN AH SANG @ TAN CHEW passed away at 10 a.m. on February 26, 2023, due to geriatric disease.

We are handling the whole funeral process, which includes body transfer, cremation, a prayer ceremony, and the interment of the ashes by his niece's family. We sincerely call upon everyone to donate for the funeral so he can rest in peace soon.

If anyone is interested in donating for the whole funeral, kindly contact any social workers at Da Ai for more information. Thank you.

Mr. CHAN AH SANG @ TAN CHEW's prayer service will be held at Kwong Tong Funeral Parlor in Kuala Lumpur on Monday, February 27, 2023 (Hall G), followed by cremation on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. The ashes will be interred by his niece's family.
