Case No. 1463

A China chef, Mr. Chi Yutao, passed away due to heart attack in a foreign land. Since he has no relatives in Malaysia and his family from his hometown, Shandong, is poor, they are unable to fly to Malaysia to handle his funeral. Therefore, we earnestly request the help of enthusiastic public by donating for Mr. Chi’s funeral.

According to the Indonesian roommate who lived with the deceased, Mr. Chi Yutao had an Indonesian wife and two children. However, they had abandoned him and returned to Indonesia for many years without contact. His experience was heartbreaking. Before his death, he rented a room in Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, to facilitate his work. He was a chef in a nearby restaurant, and his roommates were all Indonesian.

We contacted his family in Shandong , but because his family is poor, they did not know how to deal with the procedure of transporting the ashes back to China from abroad. After the family communicated with the embassy, they entrusted us to handle the whole funeral process of Mr. Chi Yutao.

50-year-old Mr. Chi Yutao was found unconscious outside the toilet in his house by his roommate on March 10 this year. The roommate immediately called the police, and after the medical staff arrived, they confirmed that he had passed away. The police then sent the remains to UKM Medical Centro (PPUKM) for analysis of the cause of death.

According to the death report issued by Pendaftar Besar bagi Kelahiran dan Kematian, Malaysia, and the laboratory report of UKM medical Centre, Mr. Chi Yutao passed away at 9.55 pm on March 10 due to Valvular heart disease. His last address was in Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur.

Since his relatives from his hometown in Shandong could not fly to here to claim his remains, and the handling of such case must comply with relevant standard operating procedures, Mr. Chi Yutao’s remains have been placed in the mortuary of UKM Medical Centre Kuala Lumpur for more than three months. We hope that we could get help from the enthusiastic public to handle Mr. Chi’s funeral.

Since the deceased has been passed away for a long time, we have directly sealed the coffin after we transferred his body. We are handling the whole funeral process for the deceased, which included body transfer, cremation and memorial service.

The funeral and cremation will be carried out in accordance with established procedures, and then arrangements will be made to send the ashes back to his hometown in Shandong. We sincerely call upon everyone to donate for his funeral so he can rest in peace soon.

If anyone is interested in donating for the whole funeral, kindly contact any social workers of Da Ai for more information. Thank you.

The prayer service for Mr. Chi Yutao will be held on 21st June 2022 (Tuesday) at Gui Yuan Funeral Crematorium Petaling Jaya (Parlour 1), and the cremation will be held on 22nd June 2022 (Wednesday). The ashes will be transported back to his hometown in Shandong, China for placement.
