Case No. 1201 : The elderly who received our DA-AI Poverty Alleviation Supports passed away suddenly at home. The niece was unable to prepare for her uncle's funeral and asked us for our help. Therefore, we call upon everyone to help her to deal with her uncle's funeral service.

Mr. Wong Swee Wah passed away suddenly at the home of his niece Ms. Law Yar Ser on the night of August 13. However, Ms. Law was unable to cope with the funeral expenses. On the day before the death of her uncle, our social worker from DaAi visited 52-year-old Law Yar Ser at home. We knew that she was a single mother who lived difficultly and needed to recycle the cardboard boxes to cover her living expenses. So when we received her request for help, we decided to help her with her uncle’s funeral, and we would like to ask everyone to help her.

Ms. Law Yar Ser was abandoned by her husband when she was 29 years old. She raised 1 boy and 1 girl alone. She usually transports fruits and vegetables to supermarkets for fruit and vegetable wholesalers for living expenses. To make more money, she also recycles cardboard boxes to cover living expenses. Ms. Law’s 21-year-old eldest daughter is taking care of the elderly at her grandmother’s house. Only her 14-year-old son lives with her upstairs in a shophouse in Kuala Lumpur.

66-year-old Wong Swee Wah was alone after the divorce. After a stroke, he suffered brain damage and lost mobility. He was unable to take care of himself. He fell downstairs at his niece’s residence and needed medical staff and police to move him to his niece’s house. The kind-hearted niece is already in a difficult situation but she chose to take care of her uncle. At the same time, she worked hard to find a free nursing home to take care of her uncle. Unexpectedly, the bad news of her uncle’s death came out the next night when our social worker visited and helped Ms. Law Yar Ser on August 12.

Ms. Law Yar Ser told our social worker that when she was going to clean her uncle’s body at night, she suddenly found that her uncle had no breath. So she hurried to call the police, but when the police and ambulance arrived, her uncle had passed away. Therefore, Ms. Law asked for our help. She was very sad because she never expected that her uncle would pass away before she found the nursing home for him.

According to the dead report issued by the Police Station Kepong in Kuala Lumpur, the 66-year-old Mr. Wong Swee Wah passed away at home at 9.46 pm on August 13.

Under the entrustment of Ms. Law Yar Ser, we are handling the funeral for the late Mr. Wong. We will handle the whole process of his funeral, which included body transfer, cremation, memorial service, and ashes placement. Therefore, we call upon everyone to donate for Mr. Wong’s funeral service.
