To survive and asylum, Nweni Khia and her husband Thang UK obtained refugee status certification with the help of UNHCR and lived in Malaysia for 10 years. They have 3 young children, the 13-year-old eldest daughter, the 10-year-old second son, and the 3-year-old son. However, Miss Nweni Khia was unfortunately diagnosed with stomach cancer on October 6, 2020..

The 32-year-old husband, Thang UK, is a CCTV installer with very little income. To treat his wife’s cancer, he has borrowed RM 14,000 from friends and spent all his savings on medical expenses. Under the referral of Hospital Kuala Lumpur, the surgery was undergoing on May 11, 2021, at Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Johor Bahru.

However, on May 31, 2021, Hospital Kuala Lumpur confirmed that Miss Nweni Khia's cancer cells had become stage IV brain cancer. She was even sent to the Emergency Department of Hospital Selayang on July 11 due to breathing difficulties.

After she was discharged from the hospital, she was unwell on the evening of July 22 (Thursday). When her husband woke her up at 6 am on July 23 (Friday), she had no response. Her husband found that she had passed away. According to the death report of the hospital, Miss Nweni Khia passed away at home at 7.29 am on July 23. The cause of death was brain cancer, and there was no sign of infection COVID-19 virus.

The death of his beloved wife made Thang UK very sad. To take care of his three young children, he could only be strong and do well for his wife's funeral. He had already used up the money borrowed from his friends and is unable to cope with the funeral expenses. Therefore, we call upon everyone to help him.

The memorial service of Miss Nweni Khia hold at GEREJA KRISTIAN HOPE ASSEMBLY on 24th of July (Saturday), and she will be rested in PERKUBURAN KWONG RAWANG on 26th of July (Monday).
