Case No. 1168 : Donation for the Funeral Service of late COVID-19 patient, Lee Chee Kiong. 46-year-old Lee Chee Kiong worked in China before the COVID-19 pandemic, but he could only stay and work locally as he could not go abroad during the pandemic. When the MCO continued to extend, he lost his job and had no place to live, so he become a GRAB CAR driver and temporarily stayed in a hostel.

Until 10 days ago, on the 12th of July, his appetite suddenly became very bad. He thought he was just too tired and asked his brother to buy him fruit and medicine. But on the 18th of July (Sunday), the last time his brother saw him, his condition became more serious, and he also had diarrhea and cough. He decided to get treatment on the next day when his brother told him to.

However, on the 19th of July (Monday), his brother is very worried after he could no longer contact Mr. Lee. On the 20th of July (Tuesday), his brother went to the hostel where he lived and found that Mr. Lee had fallen on the bed. His brother called an ambulance at 7.30 pm that night, hoping to save Mr. Lee’s life, but he didn't expect the ambulance arrived at 10.30 pm, and Mr. Lee had already passed away.

Mr. Lee, unfortunately, passed away because of the COVID-19 virus within ten days. His brother was unable to prepare the funeral expenses in a hasty due to the impact of the pandemic, so he entrusted us to handle the funeral service for Mr. Lee. Therefore, we would like to ask everyone to donate to deal with his funeral service.

What is even sadder is that when his brother was told to wear PPE protective clothing to recognize the remains at the hospital on the 21st of July (Wednesday), he found that Mr. Lee’s remains were already unrecognisable. The reason is that the air-conditioned morgue in the hospital is already full, and Mr. Lee’s remains were placed in a temporary tent outside the hospital. This scene made his brother cry sadly.

In the past few months, through so many death cases reported to DaAi, we know that Malaysia’s medical system are facing huge challenges, from ambulances, ICU emergency rooms, morgues, and even cremation sites. Therefore, we hope that everyone will give support and help our social workers, the medical staff, and the funeral industry who are fighting on the front line, to overcome this pandemic together.

Since the remains of COVID-19 were not allowed to be kept for long, we had to send the remains to be cremated immediately. We must strictly abide by the SOP given by the Ministry of Health (KKM) to handle the whole process of his funeral, which included body transfer, cremation, memorial service, and ashes placement.

If anyone is interested in donation for the whole funeral service or go to worship, kindly contact us for more information. Thank you.

The late Mr. Lee's ashes are currently placed at Jishantang Rawang strictly following the SOP for prayers and cremation on 23rd July 2021 (Friday). He will be rested in Kepong Cemetery Tower Kuala Lumpur KA37/8F-17 on 24th July 2021 (Saturday).

We call upon everyone to donate for Mr. Lee’s funeral service. We would also like to remind everyone to strictly abide by the SOP during this COVID-19 pandemic as the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths continues to increase, and we have been entrusted to handle 7 deaths from this disease. Take care and stay safe.
